It's Finally Here!

On January 20, 2010, Tyler gets a phone call from Dean Brough who is the Postmaster at the Myton Post office. He told Tyler that he has a big white envelope with his name on it from The Office of the First Presidency. The Mission call had finally arrived, so Tyler left in the Ford Ranger to get the precious letter. It seemed like it took him forever to get back home, but he finally got back. Then he tells us that we have to wait a couple of hours before it was opened! He invited some friends over to share the good news with them. Grandma and Grandpa Tonks came over also. This was their second grandson that received his mission call. Tyler took his sweet little time to open it. When he finally took it out, it read...Dear Elder Rasmussen: You are hereby called to serve as a missionary of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day saints. You are assigned to labor in the Ohio Cleveland Mission. It is anticipated that you will serve for a period of 24 months. You should report to the Provo Missionary Training Center on Wednesday, April 7, 2010. You will prepare to preach the gospel in the Spanish language.
He was excited! His friends were also happy for him. Tyler was excited to learn a language, now he will be able to talk to Bart, Jon, Ian in Spanish. Maybe Adam to. Congratulations Tyler, We are so Happy for you and know you'll be a great missionary. I hope the people of Ohio are ready for you! Well miss you lots!!!

Dale's Birthday

I wanted to do something special for Dale's Birthday this year. Having it the day after Christmas can be somewhat of a letdown. So we decided to to out to Highland to my sister's house and have pizza, and then leave for Salt Lake to see the Joseph Smith movie @ the Legacy Theater and then look @ the lights on Temple Square.

It had been a while since we had seen the temple lights. My sister Adele and her daughter
Lexi went with us. We got to Salt Lake in the late afternoon and went to the movie first. Once it was over, we walked outside and the lights were on. It was so beautiful! Just like I remembered so long ago. I had fun taking the pictures, but my subjects thought otherwise. But that's okay, cause they knew they better cooperate if they wanted me to stop. Even though it was nippy, it was a wonderful evening spending it with my Hubby, and family. Dale, you look pretty darn good for turning 51! Happy Birthday Sweetheart.

Our home lit up on Christmas Eve
Ready to eat on Christmas Eve

We had a wonderful Christmas as a family in Pleasant Valley, Utah. Tiffany was home from UVU and enjoying every minute of it. Tyler was also @ home. Dallas & Valerie and their little dog Mater came out to spend Christmas with us this year. Jason and Alicia flew to Washington to be with her family. We had a lovely Christmas Eve dinner and invited Mom and Dad over to eat. Grandma Ruth was invited to, but had another offer to go to Betty's. I didn't want to bake on Christmas day, so I planned our dinner on Christmas Eve. It was so nice, Christmas music in the background and eating good food with family. After we ate, we read the Christmas story from Luke. We each talked about how Christmas is a special time where our Savior gave us a wonderful gift. I hope we all remember the true meaning of Christmas. I can't believe that it's been one week since Christmas has come and gone. Is 2010 going to be the same way? I guess we will have to wait and see. Hope you enjoy the pictures and I hope all our family and friends had a wonderful Christmas spending it with family. Love you all!
